NEW Can We Be Divided & Respectful At the Same Time? That Is the Question!  Disagreements are a part of life.  They occur in the home, the classroom, on roads, in stores, on social media sites,  in Washington DC, on TV, on the playground, or athletic field…anywhere that you can find more than one person.  Disagreements, at times, can lead to unwanted stress, isolation and unfortunate estrangement. This self reflective PD will offer strategies to better navigate when discomfort outwins value in collegial and familial relationships.

This workshop is not about abolishing disagreement, but how to disagree better.  There are ways to disagree respectfully and civilly, without anger or any other emotion that can blur the communication.  We can learn and practice these strategies ourselves, and we can model and demonstrate them for our students.

In this workshop you will engage in some self reflection, discuss the importance of establishing trust in relationships, learn to find common ground, learn to listen with curiosity and speak with empathy, authenticity and logic.  We will focus on our own behavior and modeling it so that our students will emulate it.  We will articulate our own understanding of polarizing issues and learn to attentively listen to those with different views.  That is the way to finding common ground which can bring the poles closer together.  87% of people in the US are SICK of polarization.  If you’re one of them, join us and be part of the solution.   D.Salitsky       K-12       Wednesday, October 9th
